HAY FEVER INJECTION (KENALOG) IM
Kenalog™️ is not a first line treatment for hay fever and should only be considered when simple measures have proven ineffective. It is recommended to try medications that are available over the counter or from your Pharmacist or General Practitioner in the first instance. However, if these treatments fail to control the symptoms of hay fever, a Kenalog™️ injection may be beneficial.
Kenalog is a intramuscular injection into the buttock, it contains triamcinolone acetonide as the active ingredient, which belongs to a group of medicines called corticosteroids (steroids), The principal effect of corticosteroids is to reduce the body’s inflammatory & allergic response.
You may not be suitable for treatment if you have any of the following:
- Pregnancy/Breastfeeding
- An impaired immune system or undergoing treatment for cancer
- Allergy to any of the ingredients
- Suffering from an illness or infection
- Diabetes, unless diabetes is controlled by diet alone
- Medication that may affect your immune status
- If you are taking oral steroid treatment
- A medical history form must be completed prior to any treatment.
